Iowa's House delegation frequently votes with their party. Votes are sourced from official U.S. House records.
Iowa farmers depend on export markets for corn, soybeans, and pork. Sweeping tariff policies triggered retaliatory tariffs from trading partners, driving down commodity prices. Iowa's delegation declined to exercise Congressional authority to review executive tariff decisions, leaving farmers without recourse.
The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (H.R. 1, May 2025) cuts over $700 billion from Medicaid, affecting coverage for hundreds of thousands of Iowans, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Mariannette Miller-Meeks received tens of thousands in health insurance industry donations ahead of this vote.
The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the authority to declare war and oversee military commitments. Iowa's House members have declined to support bipartisan efforts to reassert Congressional war powers authority, allowing unilateral executive decisions on overseas military action to go unchecked.
H.R. 1 significantly reduces SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food assistance, imposing new work requirements and shifting costs to states. Approximately 300,000 Iowans rely on SNAP benefits. Iowa's entire delegation voted in favor of these reductions.
The SAVE Act adds new documentation requirements to the federal voter registration process. Researchers and election administrators have raised concerns that these requirements could create barriers for eligible Iowa voters, particularly rural residents, the elderly, and low-income citizens without easy access to required documents.
Iowa's delegation has supported legislation that weakens key ACA provisions, including coverage requirements and marketplace subsidies, that over 100,000 Iowans depend on for health coverage. Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted to undermine ACA protections after accepting tens of thousands in donations from the health insurance industry.
Vote records sourced from the U.S. House Clerk, GovTrack, and End Citizens United research. "NO" on Tariffs and War Powers indicates declining to assert Congressional oversight authority.
Federal campaign finance records are public. Below are the top industries and PACs contributing to Iowa's House members, drawn from FEC filings and OpenSecrets data.
Since the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision (2010), corporations can make unlimited independent expenditures in elections. FEC records show Mariannette Miller-Meeks has received $1.79 million in corporate PAC money over her career. Zach Nunn has received nearly $1 million in corporate PAC money, with approximately a quarter coming from the financial services industry, the same sector his House Financial Services Committee is charged with overseeing.
